Expectancy

We should all live life with expectancy because we're all working towards something. How else can we visualize reaching our goals if we are not expecting it? Living with expectancy makes us eager to continue to work towards our goals and plans. When you stop expecting something, that means the motivation you once had either no longer exists or is at a minimum.
With most, expecting something whether for your birthday, a special occasion, or holiday, etc. it is almost always exciting.  So, try applying that same attitude towards your dreams and goals.  Expect yourself to succeed and accomplish what you want in life.  Expect yourself to be the motivating factor needed for you to continue the process.
With the good, you must also expect the bad or delays; but even with that, you must expect that you will overcome it and succeed.

Do You: Trust

Do you trust yourself enough to do what's necessary for your purpose? Trust is a word often thrown around during negative conversations to express the disappointment. But that is not how it should be used for you. Trusting yourself to push past all that binds and restricts you is a positive manifestation of the results you work to see.  Do you trust the goals you set in place for yourself? Sometimes we change our minds or even our goals due to an upset or disappointment.  But, no one said it would be easy.  You must learn to trust yourself enough when it comes to pursuing your passions because you will have to revisit certain steps in your plan and revise them, but that won't mean to give up.  Once you are able to wake up everyday knowing you will do whatever is necessary, the trust within yourself will become stronger.
Most assume they only have to trust others during the process to keep their word but trusting yourself is far more important than 'others.'  When others let you down and forfeit their word, it is then your own responsibility to continue on your path to achieving your goals.  If you simply relied on another's word and when "they" let you down, you quit, then how far do you really think you'd make it?
Your purpose has been designed for you and you alone so you cannot expect or trust it in anyone else's possession.

When you trust yourself, you'll believe anything you tell yourself.

Your Name

The standard at which most people hold themselves is not as evident as it should be. It's hard to believe that so many people are more concerned about what others think than the person themselves. It wasn't always acknowledged, but over the years I learned that your name is the only thing that stays with you your entire life. How important is it to you to represent your Name with style and grace?  Your name precedes you before even walking into a room.  Think about how many times someone has mentioned a name to you and depending on how you feel about that person, you're either positive or negative.  Don't you want people to hear your name and light up?  We at SLM believe that each of us should make it priority to put honor and respect with our names.  When introducing yourself, speak your name with the utmost privilege and confidence.
In school, we are taught that before beginning anything on a worksheet, we must first write our name. That is to ensure that whatever else follows on that sheet is a representation of us.  The work that we turn in will reflect our name.  It may not have seemed like a big deal back then but we are for sure held accountable for anything that has our name on it.

So, remember, your name is your legacy that will still hold true even after you.
Do good with your name.

Elevate Your Surroundings

There's a recent article about the rapper Chamillionaire and him being spotted sitting court side at the Warriors Championship game. He was questioned by many about how he was able to afford court side seats when he hasn't put out any music in over 10 years and his response was simply he moved on and moved up. When he first started in the industry it was all about one mindedness and not realizing the real opportunity of surrounding yourself with people who you are aspiring to be. He said he moved to different places around the world and found people in the tech industry and began investing. He said seeing younger people have more than what he had only motivated him to invest and research different outlets to gain more financial in-dependency. No this article is not about Chamillionaire, but it serves as an eye-opener for those of us who continue to surround ourselves with people who are content with where they are in life sit around with no intentions to elevate themselves and better themselves. It's often easier to maintain the friendships, relationships, or current job that you have because you're comfortable and you know your way around rather than seeking opportunities that could potentially put you in environments and surroundings that will surpass your initial goal.

Life is about learning and seeing what you can accomplish when you grasp the fullness of each opportunity.  Open your mind to the bigger picture; don't limit yourself because you may not 'know it all.'  Take time to learn.
